Every weekend we will be bringing you an look at new properties for sale that catch our eye in the American Redoubt.

These properties are chosen weekly by SRC from SurvivalProperty.com based on all of the new listings in each state. They may be FSBO or MLS listed properties (from many different brokers), regardless, if you need help scouting for your ultimate rural property be sure to contact American Redoubt Realty to ensure you’re using like-minded Realtor. In addition you may wish to secure the services of Survival Retreat Consulting. They will pre-scout all properties before you arrive so you’ll only be shown the top rated retreats that fit your exacting criteria. The overviews are the opinion of SRC.

Our first property is a spectacular river front homestead located in the AAA rated Meadow Creek Safe Zone in Northern Idaho. Survival Retreat Consulting has personally inspected this property on three separate occasions. The property consists of approx. 38 acres with 8 acres in pasture and 30 acres in timber. The home is multi-level boasting a spectacular concrete basement for preps, 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths. There is plenty of room for housing guests in the home or converting the 3 bay garage into living quarters for perilous times.

WATER: The property has about 675′ of Moyie River frontage (SLD can help a buyer get water rights) and the most important aspect, a gravity fed spring water system that services the home and three cascading ponds! The water is clean, clear cold and crisp to the tongue, from personal experience. The large pond (the source of the spring) is over an acre in size (1.5) and attracts Moose, Elk, Deer, Bear and other assorted species and is full of fish!  The smaller lower ponds can be expanded (ask for details), especially the larger lower pond to once again incorporate native trout. The Moyie River is a huge body of water with white water rapids and excellent fishing! It winds its way down the valley and supports the locally owned hydro-electric dam!

ENERGY: The property is currently connected to grid power, sourced in whole or in part from the local hydroelectric dam. The spring water system from the upper pond, after inspection, it appeared that there should be adequate spring run off (after servicing te home) to operate a small hydroelectric system (micro-hydro) during the winter and spring months and then switch back to solar in the summer and fall. The springs do run year round, just to be clear.

FOOD Production: The property boasts a HUGE 1/4 ACRE garden and starter greenhouse. SRC recommends that a new larger greenhouse be built, however, the garden itself is impressive boasting 15 fruit trees (Apple, Plum, Cherry and Pear) as well as Raspberries, strawberries, grapes, black & red currants, gooseberries, Asparagus & perennials. The Herb Garden: Thyme, sage, marjoram, chives, lemon thyme, oregano, horseradish, sorrel lettuce, spearmint & Moroccan Mint. The Flower Garden: Peonies, tulips, day lilies & creeping phlox.

DEFENSE: The property is located about 15 minutes northeast of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and almost 9 miles up Meadow creek Road. It’s sandwiched between two bridges on  the road allowing the property to be isolated on it’s own little island once a major event takes place. Each bridge can be controlled with minimal manpower with excellent fields of fire. The property backs to US National Forest, with excellent defensive positions and bug-out routes should the need occur. SRC can provide a full defensive plan and overview to qualified clients.

Well designed floor plan with plenty of storage, expansive decking and fenced yard. ICF Basement ready for family preps. Home and property are in pristine condition. Nice barn and fenced pasture for horses and other animals, large fenced garden and concrete floored shed.

WATER: Private well is 43 GPM with some spring activity on the property.

ENERGY: The property is on the local power grid but can be converted to Solar w/ generator back up easily.

FOOD Production: The property has a nice fenced garden and is ready for a greenhouse.

This home is one of the most unique and beautiful homes in the local area. The historic barn was restored into a charming, full of character home that is welcoming from the second you walk in the door. For you history buffs, the home was originally a barn constructed in 1889 and known in Auburn as ”poppy’s barn”. The rough stair treads are part of the original downstairs flooring. The current downstairs flooring came from an old shed near the Auburn post office. All of the newer rough lumber was logged out and milled in Star Valley. The cabin was moved in from about 2 miles and is where the Wogerman family grew up in the early 1900’s. The old wagons are from the Aagard family and came from the Bighorn Basin area. There is an original hand-dug well also. The property also features a historic guest cabin from the late 1800’s which has also been restored into a cozy, beautifully done cabin with original hardwood floors. There is also a full functioning shop for a home based business. There is also plenty of land for horses or cows and a loafing shed for the animals. This house is perfect for a gardening enthusiast with its greenhouse and garden boxes.
