I spent a few years in a segment of the military where guys would throw themselves into their work for 12-16 hour days, seven days a week, trying to be the best at what they did. Many burned out. When I was new, a senior peer gave me the advice: “You need to have a day off; a day where you don’t even think of work. You need that time to recharge and refocus yourself.” Best advice I ever got. I followed it, and became one of the best at what I did.

That’s why I try to remind our readers each week. You need time to think about something other than work. You need time to think about what’s valuable in your life – what you’re doing all this for.

Take a day. Think about what’s important to you. Think about how the Redoubt has more freedom for you to that end.
